With the passage of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III, the stool of Alaafin has became vacant and the succession process began. No doubt, whoever ascend the throne of Alaafin has an herculean task at hand. The question now is ‘ Who is next’……?

Several people have put themselves up for consideration to sit on the stool. I have equally in that spirit offered myself for the job of Alaafin. This is because I believe that the re-ordering of the Oyo’s priority is a cause to champion. Though, thousands may contest for the stool but only the right and competent one is what Oyo deserves at this point in time.

As one of the prestigious princes of the Agunloye ruling house, I have every right and ably qualified to become the next Alaafin. I am Adekunle Adekunte Akee Oladigbolu of Onikeke compound, Iyaji, Oyo.

I am a direct descendant of His Imperial Majesty Oba Abubakr Siyanbola Onikepe Akanbi Oladigbolu. My father, Prince Akinade Akee Oladigbolu (Akee Onikeke), is the only surviving Alaafin Siyanbola Onikepe Akanbi Oladigbolu of Ayaba Asiawu Onikepe Amoke.

Ayaba Asiawu was one of the oloris that performed ilekoto rite for Alhaja Ramat Adedayo Adeyemi, the present IYA ILEKOTO. Ayaba Asiawu Onikepe Living in KOBI ASIRI and gave birth to Princess SIE EJIDE (Sie gunyan-gunka) and Prince Akee Akinade in 1939 before Alaafin Siyanbola Onikepe Akanbi Oladigbolu answered the call of his ancestors in 1944. Prince Akinade Akee is the only prince from Iyaji.

I believe I have the requisite training to become the next Alaafin. I attended L.A. primary school, Bola Oyo for my primary education. I had my secondary school education at Alaafin High school, Oyo. I was at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree for a National Diploma (ND) program in Business Administration. I later proceeded to Ondo state polytechnic, Owo for a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration. I equally had other professional courses on Business Administration, Management and Communication studies.

I, for several years, worked with Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Oyo franchise. While at PHCN, I served at different times in departments like: cash control, salaries and wages. After the privatization of PHCN, I secured another appointment at Fund and Electronics Transfer solution(FETs) and later Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) as a supervisor in Oyo Business Hub. The job I am currently on.

I am not far off from our root , the source of Yoruba civilization. I had served on various community development services both within and outside Oyo. For instance, I am , by the special grace of Almighty God, the President of a progressive forum (OYO ATIBA UNITY FORUM) both home and abroad. I am equally a member of other groups like: OYO PROGRESSIVE INDIGENE FORUM (Home and Diaspora), AL-ADAALAT ISLAMIC ORGANIZATION, just to mention but a few. I no doubt have the firm believe that with my humble self, Adekunle Akee on the stool of Alaafin, I will bring my proven wealth of experiences to bear in the administration of the affairs of Oyo.

What else do we desire if not for continuous growth and progress. With Prince Adekunle Adekunte Akee Oladigbolu, that wheel of Oyo progress will not stop. Oyo deserves a down to heart king . Someone who is at home with the people. I believe, I am that man. Having live in Oyo virtually all my life and had occasionally travel outside of Oyo , I sure understand the peculiarity and the need of our people. I live with our people and relating with all isn’t going to be a big deal for me . I can only pray and hope that we get the selection and ascension to the throne right.

We need a free minded and well cultured person like MUIDEEN ADEKUNLE ADEKUNTE AKEE OLADIGBOLU to ascend the throne as next OBA ALAYELUWA IKU BABA YEYE ALAAFIN ILE OYO……. Ki Olohun ran mi lowo, Aamin.
