Peace is a fundamental component of community development, personal growth, and survival of our planet.
At the heart of every faith community, and culture, lies a need to advance peaceful co-existence to enhance productive, meaningful lives and sustainable societies.
Peace underlies our quality of life and the fabric of our communities; and as our weaponry becomes ever more powerful, our very survival as people on this planet depends on it.
The modern world is becoming highly fragmented, less peaceful and unsafe for both present and future generations.
The world today is engulfed by an environment of tension, violence, declining values, injustices, reduced tolerance and respect for human rights, threatening the future of the youth who deserve a peaceful and better quality of life.
Peace is a way of living together so that all members of society can accomplish their human rights.

It is as an essential element to the realisation of all human rights. Peace is a product of human rights: the more a society promotes, protects and fulfils the human rights of its people, the greater its chances for curbing violence and resolving conflicts peacefully.

However, peace is also increasingly being recognised as a human right itself, as an emerging human right or part of the so-called solidarity rights.

But can peace and mutual coexistence be achieved in a situation or circumstance where persons who, individually or collectively in a contest , have suffered or are made to suffer harm, including physical or mental injury, emotional suffering or substantial impairment of their fundamental rights, or access to justice and fair treatment?

Otherwise, contestants should be treated with compassion and respect for their dignity. Thus is because they are all entitled to access to the mechanisms of justice and to prompt redress, as provided for by the country’s laws, for the harm that they might have suffered.

Avoiding unnecessary delay in the disposition of result in the contest which should be open and transparent is germaine to ward off mistrust, recrimination, vendetta and civil strife.
