The 34th President of United States of America, Dwight.D.Eisenhower, once said, “The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, a royal father, in an army, or in an office.”

Today is exactly six months that the late Royal Cicero , the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba ( Dr.) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, bid the world farewell.

Oba Adeyemi was an amazing Paramount Ruler who ensured stability, peace and progress in the country during his glorious reign

Oba Adeyemi was a genius way ahead of his time.

Countless number of people both high and low, including with the mantle of leadership had indeed benefitted from his fatherly role in ensuring stability, peace and progress in the country.

Iku Baba Yeye, You were a remarkable ruler who had earned Nigerians and by extension the global community adoration and deep respects with how you had lived your life.

I couldn’t imagine what my life would be without having your influence upon it. So, I am remembering and celebrating you, the amazing gift to the world .

Few people have earned a greater place of respect than you. Every single day of Your presence was a gift.

The handsome, awesome, and highly cerebral Royal Father that I revere and hold so dear. Thank you for all the treasures your presence while alive had brought to all the lives you’ve touched.

Kabiyesi, You were one of those rare beings who believed in doing the work in totality instead of seeking respect here and there. You proved the statement right that respect is earned not asked.

Till now, you are the most precious in my life. When I was going to touch the abyss of the darkness, you held my hands and snatched me till I experienced the utter glitter. You deserve every bit of my thanks. Kiniun oju abata..

Life is indeed full of flabbergasting things. However, the biggest surprise in my life is your drastic entry and the upliftment of my dreams and courage. I don’t mind at all living under your shadow. Adieu my Royal Boss.

“To the rest of the world, maybe you are just another person who is chasing meaningless goals. However, for me, you are one of the finest visionaries among the Monarchs I have the pleasure to meet and work with.

“Working with a King like you in life is unquestionably the biggest blessing one could have in life. I, and on behalf of my family, want to thank you numerous times for being the person that every dream chaser looks for the support.

Every day of life is sunny and serene when a self-motivated person like you was there to make life interesting and intriguing. What a magnificent Monarch you were

You were a genius way ahead of his time. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea to understand your vision and the amount of hard work you are putting to make it happen.

Even to his arch enemies, the late Alaafin was a great Paramount Ruler who had a futuristic vision and knows how to turn his ideas into real-world success stories.

He, not only believed in Honesty and integrity , but living by it, which are two important ingredients which make a good leader. He remained a highly respectable Paramount Ruler today because late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 stuck to the values and core beliefs .

The late Alaafin was confident enough to ensure that others follow his commands. If a leader is unsure about his own decisions and qualities, then his subordinates will never follow him or her. As a distinguished Traditional Ruler , Alaafin was oozing with confidence, show some assertiveness to gain the respect of his people, subjects and the entire Yoruba land.

This does not mean that he was overconfident, but the Paramount Ruler was at least reflecting the degree of confidence required to ensure that his people and subjects trust him as a caring Royal Father.

What of his decision-making capability.
Apart from having a futuristic vision, Alaafin possessed the ability to take the right decision at the right time. Decisions taken by him had profound impacts on the people, not only in Yorubaland, but the nation as a whole.

Alaafin thought long and hard before taking a decision but once the decision was taken, he stood by it. Although, most leaders take decisions on their own, but Alaafin would consult key stakeholders before taking a decision.

Above all, Alaafin is also renowned for his accountability.

Arnold H Glasow once said, “A good leader takes little more than his share of the blame and little less than his share of the credit.”

Alaafin would make sure that everyone of his subjects is accountable for what they are doing. If they do well, he would give them a pat on the back but if they struggle, he would make them realise their mistakes and work together to improve. Holding them accountable for their actions create a sense of responsibility among his subjecrs and they will go about their assignments more seriously.

Finally, late Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111 was a fantastic communicator.

Until you clearly communicate your vision to your team and tell them the strategy to achieve the goal, it will be very difficult for you to get the results you want.

Simply put, if you are unable to communicate your message effectively to your team, you can never be a good leader.

Alaafin was a distinct and good communicator. Words have the power to motivate people and make them do the unthinkable. Alaafin used them effectively, hence he achieved better results.

Continue to have your eternal rest, the visionary and respected genius Monarch I know! “Layiwola Atanda Omo Ibironke, Alabenu a sa si”.
