Women, lubricants for national development , says Alaafin’s wife

Women have played a significant role in the fields of science and engineering throughout history.

From groundbreaking discoveries to innovative engineering feats, their contributions have often been overshadowed or unrecognized.

The journey of women in these disciplines is not just a tale of triumphs but also a narrative woven with challenges.

These formed the fulcrum today at the inauguration of the pioneer Chairman and Executive members of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria , Oyo chapter, held at the Ajayi Crowther University.

It also focused  on the inherent benefits of diversity in these fields, emphasizing how varied perspectives can lead to innovation and progress through removal of stereotypes.


In her address, wife of the Alaafin of Oyo, Ayaba Abiwunmi  Owoade,  described the inauguration  as a celebration of excellence, bold leadership and the unwavering strength of women.

Ayaba Owoade said she was proud to witness the defining moment in history , ehere brilliant minds and determined hearts come together to shape a better future for the pace setter State , country and indeed generations to come.

According to her, as women, we have always been builders of home , communities , and  nations . But today , we are celebrating women as builders of infrastructure , innovation, technology,  and transformation. That to me , is power in its truest form””.

While urging the new pioneer Chairman and hwr team to carry the torch not just for themselves, but for the many young girls watching them and dreaming of becoming Engineers, she prayed for the new leadership ti be impactful, inclusive , and inspiring..

To the entire Association, Ayaba Owoade, she counseled members that they are not only raising Engineers , but hope , dignity and possibilities.

She however pledged her support for the progress and development of the Association.
