The ancient city of Oyo and its surrounding communities continue to express unwavering love and steadfast support for their Paramount Ruler, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, fondly referred to as the *Iku Baba Yeye*. This deep affection stems from gratitude for a monarch blessed with robust health, unparalleled wisdom, and a visionary approach to leadership that guides the people of Oyo City with clarity and purpose.

Residents of Oyo City and its satellite communities celebrate the Alaafin’s virtues and transformative leadership, which have brought significant progress since his ascension to the throne. Notable achievements include the ongoing construction of an ultra-modern health institution in his hometown, the importation of multi-million-dollar medical equipment, the empowerment of over 2,000 youths through training in ten diverse vocations, and the gradual resolution of local disputes. These initiatives reflect Oba Owoade’s commitment to the well-being and progress of his people.

The annual Eid-el-Kabir festival has become a pilgrimage for indigenes both at home and abroad, who flock to Oyo City not only to celebrate but also to connect personally with their revered monarch. This year’s Sallah festival was no exception, as thousands of residents, predominantly Muslims, gathered at the Agunpopo praying ground as early as 7 a.m., eagerly awaiting the arrival of their resilient Royal Father.

Accompanied by members of the Oyo Mesi, his royal family, and aides, Alaafin Owoade arrived at the praying ground to a jubilant reception from the crowd. Following the prayers, the monarch and his entourage proceeded to the palace for traditional rites, greeted by an enthusiastic throng. The people’s joy was palpable, inspired not only by the presence of their peace-loving ruler but also by his striking traditional attire, radiant smile, and approachable demeanor.

At the palace, the atmosphere was electric as various groups paid homage to the Alaafin. The royal entertainment, featuring the monarch’s graceful dance to traditional drumming and poetic panegyrics, drew thunderous applause and heightened the festive spirit.

In interviews with residents, they lauded Alaafin Owoade as a monarch with a clear vision for Oyo City, its satellite communities, and the broader Yorubaland. “He knows where he wants to lead us and what it takes to get there,” one resident remarked. “His foresight allows him to anticipate challenges and devise solutions that benefit us in both the short and long term.”

The residents further praised the Alaafin’s ability to build consensus and inspire unity. “As the Titan of Yorubaland, Alaafin Owoade leads a free people with conviction, persuading us through the strength of his philosophy,” another resident noted. “His words carry weight because he believes in them and consistently fulfills his promises.”

The people also highlighted the Alaafin’s deep knowledge of their history, customs, and traditions, as well as his respect for the traditional religions, festivals, and rites of his kingdom. “Oba Owoade’s authority is rooted in our traditions, earning him the respect, obedience, and reverence of his people,” a resident affirmed. “His candor, empathy, and commitment to empowering us to reach our full potential make him a truly remarkable leader.”

The first Sallah festival under Alaafin Owoade’s reign was not just a celebration but a testament to his dedication to the progress and unity of Oyo City. As the Iku Baba Yeye continues to lead with wisdom and integrity, the people of Oyo City remain steadfast in their support, confident in a future shaped by his transformative vision.
