In a remarkable step toward promoting academic excellence, leadership, and youth development, the Pinnacle Scholars Show successfully held its maiden edition on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club. The event brought together students, educators, professionals, and community leaders in a dynamic and enriching learning atmosphere.

The program featured a diverse lineup of activities designed to inspire and empower young minds, including a thought-provoking academic talk-show, an intellectually engaging debate competition, and a talent exhibition that celebrated the creativity and confidence of emerging scholars.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were Dr & Dr Mrs Fasipe of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso. Dr Fasipe, a principal lecturer in the Faculty of Music, delivered a brief yet impactful charge to the students, encouraging them to strive for excellence and purpose-driven growth. Also present was Mrs Bolaji from the ICT Unit of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, who had the honor of presenting awards to the debate winners.

A key highlight of the event was the panel session, which featured seasoned professionals:

Mrs Kemi Ogunniran, a language and literacy specialist

Mr Elijah Ogunyale, a leadership coach and youth mentor

Mr Ayobami Agboola, an experienced educationist

Their contributions provided students with valuable insights on academic growth, leadership development, and personal responsibility.

The debate competition, centered on the theme “Leadership Failure Is a Symptom of a Failing Society, Not the Cause,” showcased the analytical and oratory skills of participating students. Winners of the competition included:

Overall Winner: Adeyinka Oyinlola – a student of Smith International Baptist Academy, Ogbomoso
1st Runner-up: Alade George – a student of Smith International Baptist Academy, Ogbomoso
2nd Runner-up: Adebayo Benjamin – a student of George Green Baptist College, Ogbomoso

According to the show’s convener, Ebenezer Adeopa, the vision of the Pinnacle Scholars Show is to provide a platform where students can grow intellectually, discover their talents, engage with real-world issues, and develop the confidence needed to thrive in today’s fast-changing world.

“We believe young people are full of potential. This show exists to help them unlock it, step by step, through experiences that challenge, empower, and elevate them,” he shared.

With strong support from schools, volunteers, and professionals, the Pinnacle Scholars Show is positioned to become a recurring event that fosters academic engagement, leadership awareness, and creative expression among learners across educational levels.
